Lucy Abbersteen

Junior Digital Beauty Editor

Lucy has been on Marie Claire's digital beauty team since the end of 2017, covering a range of different topics across skincare, make-up, hair and health, and lives in East London. Her day-to-day job can involve anything from picking the brains of top dermatologists, swatching the latest and greatest foundations and chatting to the odd celebrity as part of our Beauty Bytes series (a career highlight has to be her one-on-one chat with TV legend and national treasure, Claudia Winkleman).

You'll also see her regularly popping up on Marie Claire's IGTV channel for quick-fire questions with industry experts and famous faces, or rummaging through the contents of the year's sell-out beauty advent calendars. Keep an eye out for her exciting new IGTV series launching later this year, too.

A graduate of the University of Sheffield's BA Journalism programme, she first joined the team as Digital Assistant for six months in 2016, working her way up from there, and has also written for titles such as Cosmopolitan, Women's Health, InStyle and LOOK. Her biggest beauty loves? Great make-up removing cleansers, hydrating serums and products her thirsty, dry, curly hair will soak right up. Beauty bug bears, on the other hand? Clumpy mascara = just not her thing. As well as beauty, a couple of her other topics of interest include female health and mental wellbeing.

When she's not got beauty on the brain you'll find her spending time with dogs (her sister owns the sassiest cockapoo puppy around), sleeping or working her way through a fat paperback. She'll often get through two or three books a week on her morning commute, and enjoys a mixture of easy reads, psychological thrillers, drama and non-fiction. She's also a big fan of Grey's Anatomy, rosé wine and and playing the never-ending game of trying to keep her house plants alive. Which reminds her, they probably need watering again...
